Aims and Scope
Acta hydrotechnica is an open access international scientific journal published by the Faculty of Civil and Geodetic Engineering of the University of Ljubljana. Acta hydrotechnica publishes original research papers, short communications, review papers and technical notes. The journal covers topics in hydrology, hydraulics, fluid mechanics, hydraulic engineering, water regulation, water resource management, ecological engineering, hydraulic structures, utilisation of hydropower, dam engineering, sanitary engineering, water protection, legislation related to water management, engineering geomorphology, water ecology, and protection against natural disasters. This is the master journal in Slovenia for the fields of hydraulic engineering, hydrology and environmental engineering. The Journal also consolidates its academic mission by ensuring transfer of knowledge and technology into practice. The printed form of the journal is exchanged with other national and international journals covering similar topics.
Publication
There is no charge for submission, article processing, and publication. The corresponding author guarantees that all authors have seen and approved the manuscript and have contributed significantly to the paper. The authors are obliged to provide retractions or corrections. They should provide a list of references and acknowledge financial support. The authors should declare that the manuscript is an original work and has neither been published in any other journal nor is under consideration for publication by any other journal.
Language
Papers are published in English or Slovenian. The abstract, keywords, figures, and table captions are published in both languages. The authors are responsible for the content of their contributions and for the correct use of language. Nonetheless, all contributions are proofread by a professional language editor.
Publication Frequency
The journal is published twice a year in printed (ISSN 0352-3551) and electronic (ISSN 1581-0267) form.
Peer Review Process
All manuscripts are subject to single blind peer review by at least two internationally recognized experts in the field of the manuscript. If the reviews differ substantially, a third reviewer may be invited. Authors are welcome to suggest two to three possible reviewers which is a help, but not an obligation, to the editor. The reviewers are asked to complete the review within four weeks after their approval.
Open Access Policy
Acta hydrotechnica is an open access journal under the Creative Commons license (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0). All articles are available online to all users immediately upon publication. Non-commercial use and distribution in any medium is permitted, provided the original work and the journal are properly cited. For any reuse or redistribution of a work, users must also make clear the license terms under which the work was published.
Publication Ethics and Publication Malpractice Statement
We are aware of the problem of plagiarism, fraud and misconduct in scientific publishing. Therefore, we support ethical publication and have fully endorsed the guidelines and standards developed by (COPE (Committee for Publication Ethics). In order to maintain fair practice and high standards, the following guidelines are followed:
  • Editors should act in a balanced, objective, and fair way while carrying out their expected duties, without discrimination on grounds of gender, sexual orientation, religious or political beliefs, ethnic or geographical origin of the authors. In case of special issues the editors should handle submissions in the same way as other submissions, so that the papers are considered and accepted solely on their academic merit. Editors should adopt and follow reasonable procedures in the event of complaints. All actions dealing with malpractice should be documented by the editors. Editors should give authors a reasonable opportunity to respond to any complaints. All complaints should be investigated no matter when the original publication was approved. Documentation associated with any such complaints should be retained.
  • Reviewers should contribute to the decision-making process, and to assist in improving the quality of the published paper by reviewing the manuscript objectively, in a timely manner. Any manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential. Reviewers should maintain the confidentiality of any information supplied by the editor or author and not retain or copy the manuscript. They should alert the editor to any published or submitted content that is substantially similar to that under review. Reviews should be conducted objectively and observations should be formulated clearly with supporting arguments, so that authors can use them for improving the paper. Any selected referee who feels unqualified to review the submitted paper should notify the editor and excuse himself/herself from the review process. Moreover, reviewers should not consider manuscripts in which they have any potential conflicts of interest (e.g., financial, institutional, collaborative or other relationships between the reviewer and author) and to alert the editor to these, if necessary withdrawing their services for that manuscript.
  • Authors. Plagiarism in all its forms constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable. Authors should confirm that the manuscript they submitted is not under consideration or accepted for publication elsewhere. Where portions of the content overlap with published or submitted content, they should acknowledge and cite those sources. Additionally, they should provide the editor with a copy of any submitted manuscript that might contain overlapping or closely related content. Authors should confirm that all the work in the submitted manuscript is original and they are obligated to acknowledge and cite content reproduced from other sources. If necessary they should obtain permission to reproduce any content from other sources. Authors should maintain accurate records of data associated with their submitted manuscript, and to supply or provide access to these data, on reasonable request. Authors should declare any potential conflicts of interest. They should notify promptly the journal editor or publisher if a significant error in their publication is identified and cooperate with the editor to correct it.
