Biodegradation of the artificial sweetener saccharin in surface waters and groundwaters

- Povzetek: Namen dela je bil ovrednotiti biorazgradljivost široko uporabljanega umetnega sladila saharin v površinskih in podzemnih vodah. Umetna sladila zaradi njihove stabilnosti v zadnjem času uvrščamo med problematična onesnaževala. Biorazgradnjo saharina smo spremljali v površinskih vodah ‒ v rekah Ljubljanica, Pivka in Unica ‒ ter v podzemni vodi ‒ reki Pivka v Planinski jami ‒, da bi določili njegovo stabilnost v različnih pogojih v okolju. Saharin se je najbolje razgrajeval (98 % v 14 dneh) v hipertrofni rečni vodi z višjimi koncentracijami fosforja in dušika. V primerjavi z optimalnimi pogoji standardiziranega testa biorazgradnje se je pri običajnih pogojih v okolju podaljšal čas lag faze in čas razgradnje. Potrdili smo, da se saharin v okolju v vodah, ki vsebujejo dovolj aktivnih mikroorganizmov in potrebnih hranil za njihovo delovanje, razgrajuje.
